Though i in generel avoid Microsft products if i can due to my fondness for Linux, they do have some bright moments from time to time. I think that this editor is one of them. Lightweight and with a ton of extension available for almost all programming languages and files types i can think of.
Dont know if there is a better crodss platform FTP-client available. This is just the one a have gotten used to work with.
A very nice free cross platform multi-databvase client as long as you use the Community edition. Supports a wide range of both SQL and nonSQL databases.
If i can get around using Windows that would be my favorite Linux OS for workstations based on either Debian or Ubuntu
My favorite linux dintro for servers, but can be a bit critical regarding newer hardware due to Debian's strict aproach to new software/drivers
